What can our personal trainers offer you?
There are so many reasons why you would want to work with one of our Birmingham-based personal trainers. Such as …
1. You need help in losing stubborn weight
Weight loss is amongst the most common reasons why people look to work with one of our personal trainers. Losing weight and, more importantly, keeping it off! It’s all about a long-term commitment to exercising properly and eating the right stuff. Any one of our personal trainers can help you get rid of stubborn fat and say “goodbye” forever!
2. You are looking for sport-specific training
If you are training for another sport, such as boxing, running, swimming or cycling, then you will benefit greatly from working with a personal trainer. Knowing how to properly approach cardio, muscle gain and dieting is crucial for all sports. And we can assign you a personal trainer whose exact skills and experiences matches the sport you are training for.
3. You want to improve your existing workouts
Throughout the year, many of our most experienced members choose to work with a personal trainer for a few sessions, just to find new ways to mix up their workouts. Not only does this help make things more fun and enjoyable, but it also helps lead to long-term gains. Muscles get used to old, outdated workouts and mixing them up is of crucial importance.

Personal Trainers FAQs
How do I choose the right gym?
This will depend on the type of gym you are looking for and your goals. We are not a mainstream commercial gym with generic equipment. Our gym caters to technical enthusiasts with the best resistance training equipment available, anatomically designed to ensure the best range of movement while achieving the best results. Si Fan, our founder, visits gyms worldwide and has an extensive career in the bodybuilding industry.
Our members join because of the atmosphere, the equipment and the first-class advice and personal training we can provide. We are the place for you if you want to train hard and seriously. If you want to compete competitively, you should not be going anywhere else.
However, if you are just looking for a nice place to do some cardio or lift weights near the city centre, we can cater for this too!
Here are our top 8 factors to consider when choosing the right gym.
- Location: Choose a gym that is conveniently located near your home or workplace. This will make it easier to stick to a regular workout routine.
- Equipment: Make sure the gym has a wide variety of equipment to meet your fitness needs. This includes cardio machines, strength training equipment, and free weights.
- Cost: Gym memberships can vary in price. Make sure to compare the cost of different gyms and choose one that fits your budget. We know we are fantastic value for money!
- Cleanliness: A clean gym is a healthy gym. Take a tour of our gym, and you will see it’s clean, with excellent shower facilities.
- Staff: The staff at the gym should be friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Make sure you feel comfortable asking them for assistance or advice.
- Atmosphere: The gym’s atmosphere should be welcoming and motivating. Choose a gym where you feel comfortable and supported in your fitness journey.
- Trial Membership: You can benefit from doing a one-day gym or weekly pass before joining. Take advantage of these offers to try the gym before committing to a long-term membership.
- Contract: We have both contract and none contract gym memberships, which offer great flexibility. Learn more here.
We know it can be a daunting experience to find the right gym. We are here to help; give us a call on 0121 389 8602 or speak to one of our team members in the gym if you have any questions.
How often should you see a personal trainer?
This really depends on your personal goals and the starting point that you are at in your fitness journey.
If you are new to the gym, then it’s ideal to start with 2 or 3 personal training sessions a week over a course of time to become skilled in the correct form and use of equipment. The biggest difference in body composition is seen when the correct use of equipment is executed each visit! You could do this for 4 to 8 weeks, and then once you are more experienced, lower the amount. However, we find that most people get so much from their personal training sessions at Ultimate Fitness Birmingham that they often end up increasing the sessions.
If you are more of a seasoned gym-goer with plenty of experience or you have trained in the past, you may be able to get away with less, or if you are competing and want a serious transformation, you may want to do 4.
Other factors that will influence such a decision will also be your budget and how motivated or how little motivation you have.
Personal trainers have different styles, methods, and ways in which they train muscle groups. So, drop our team a message, and we can arrange a chat to discuss your goals.

Are personal training sessions worth it?
With advances in our understanding of the impact of exercise on the body, we now know that resistance training is one of the biggest drivers of both longevity and quality of life in people as we age. So, an investment in one-on-one personal training is an investment in both the quality and length of your life, along with the boost in confidence you can achieve by looking and feeling your best.
However, one of the biggest fundamental changes in one-on-one personal training is motivation to physical activity; studies have proven a causal link between one-on-one training and a deepening sense of motivation. These changes in behaviour have a dramatic effect on all measurable outcomes when it comes to the long-lasting benefits of exercise.
Another great way working with a personal trainer is worth it is in injury prevention. You are much less likely to injure joints, muscles, or ligaments when you have an experienced professional develop a program for you and spot you during each session.
